Bermuda Part 4 - Around the Island and Zoo

One day we enjoyed a walk around Hamilton and found this beautiful church, and a grocery store which we were really looking for. The KFC below is the ONLY CHAIN on the island and some friend had lunch there and a bucket of 18 pieces was $50.
We also headed to the zoo and it was the highlight of Harrison's trip. We saw some of the same fish that we saw at the beach and we were able to get really close to the animals. Much closer than at home. He thought it was great.

These fish Chilton ( I think they were called)  were everywhere. They just stuck to the sides of the rocks above the water line.

The touching pond was a HUGE HIT. Harrison really enjoyed getting to see and touch all these cool ocean creatures.

I enjoyed seeing all the plant life and buildings. Each home is responsible for their own water supply so beneath the houses are large wells. then the roofs are designed to gather and filter the rain water. All the buildings were brightly painted and have to repainted about every 3 years.

First Zoo Trip 2012

John has been out of town A LOT like for weeks, so last friday he took off half a day and we headed to the zoo. You will notice in the pictures Harrison goes prepared with bicoaluars, camera, and maps. He is so Funny.
It was also the first day for their dinosaur exhibit so we enjoyed that as well.  We have had SUCH warm temperatures for this time of the year and we have really been enjoying it.

Our little Red Head Wonder is getting TOO big TOO fast.

Zoo Day with Friends

One good thing about our move is that we are about 20 minutes from some dear friends that we used to live close to when we were in Bowling Green. We moved away while I was pregnant and She was expecting her oldest. Since then they have moved to TN and recently about 15 miles from where we moved to. We are enjoying to getting to know each other kiddos and enjoying being close enough to see each other more than a couple times a year. It is a blessing to have dear friends where you can just pick up where you left off.
Today we went to the zoo and the kids had a ball, and we enjoyed the much cooler temps.

Notice how Harrison and Elaina are holding hands :) don't tell her Daddy :)

Zoo Time

We headed to the zoo today and Harrison spend lots of time before we left making the PLANS.  With his map on the right and his "list" of must see animals on the left. Each line resents an animals ... Elephant is gray, lion is orange, zebra is black etc :)

The map was not laid down the whole afternoon and he knew just where we were the whole time. Which was funny till we left without seeing all of the zoo. Since he could read the map he knew just what we did not see. The same thing happens with time now he can tell time. NO more putting him to bed before bedtime, etc...

And he HAD to take a picture of EVERY animal.... wonder where he gets that from :)
