Corn

Bag of corn from Dad means Corn Hulling at our house.
And Harrison is such a big helper this year (really he is, he loves it and actually does a good job)

Cutting it off the cob.

You have to have a little taste test. The real reason for him eating is so he can take the cob to the chickens :)

Lots of yummy corn.

For the compost which Harrison also takes care of for me.

Then I spread it out on baking pans and freeze then put in bags so I can just grab a handful or two when I need it for a dish or soup.

Its a busy time at our house but we enjoy these goodies all year this way.

Full Circle -- Peas

Harrison planted the Pea seeds a couple of months ago and today we got to pick our first few. He was able to help pick them and he LOVES to hull peas. Of coarse he eats as many as he hulls.

You can click on the pictures to see them larger

So this afternoon we sat on the patio hulling peas and then feed the hulls to the chickens and bunnies. Then it was time to go in and make of Harrison's favorite meals for his dinner with the peas and broccoli he picked today. I think Harrison would eat "Chinese Noddles" everyday if I would fix them. It took a little time to find gluten free options for this dish but now he is happy to have brown Chinese noodles.

They now even have chocolate which, I never should have gotten :) So I thought I would share it with you all. It is between Nashville and bowling green and is less than five mins from the interstate. if your interested you can find more information at http://www.tnrealmilk.com/

Eathing Healthy on a Budget

A good blog and a good entry about Eating Healthy on a Budget. here And here are some tips for getting started on eathing healthier.

I know I may not be a size 4 but that does not make me unhealthy. I do a lot of reading, studying, research, what ever you want to call it on what goes in my body. Sure I still enjoy a Coke from time to time, old habits die hard. I do have a few books I would like to share with you but I don't have the time today. Four years ago I took up to 28 pills a day for my "health" yes I have lupus, yes it is serious but in order to get pregnant I had to get off all that and I had to learn ways to get healthy without the pills. I had to still function everyday. Now, don't get me wrong I don't think Medicine is bad but we seem to think a pill will solve everything. I am sure I will take some maintenance medication when I know I am not having any more babies but it will be very limited and only as I can't manage with diet.
